Air Circuit Breakers & Oil Circuit Breakers

Nilsen Engineering Services provides expert testing, repair and refurbishment of circuit breakers. Inspection and testing of protection gear is important and provides benefits including:

  • Assurance of operation when fault conditions occur (switchgear that has been installed and has not had to operate, must be tested to insure that under fault conditions it will function correctly).
  • Correct coordination of upstream switchgear with downstream equipment to prevent unnecessary disconnection.
  • Compliance with current standards and fitness for service to avoid any areas of doubt in insurance claims for electrical accidents or personal injury.

Nilsen Engineering Services has the skills and instrumentation to carry out a large suite of testing programs including contact timing, arc chute and contact condition, relay testing and direct injection testing. Nilsen was contracted by Lend Lease to carry out the complete electrical installation for the latest addition to the University of Technology, Sydney – the Faculty Building for Engineering and Information Technology in Ultimo. The 45,120 square metre facility is a 17 floor building consisting of teaching spaces, research spaces, faculty offices, faculty boardrooms and function areas, as well as support facilities including large student lounges, public café’s and parking for about 160 cars.

New electrical services include: programming and site co-ordination of the HV cabling and substation Fitout work. Modification of main Distribution board Consumer mains, Main Switchboards, Switchboards, Tri-generation switchboard, Power factor correction equipment, Installation of 2 off 400A circuit breakers for future provision of harmonic filters, Automatic transfer switches (ATS), Metering and earthing/ bonding, Energy Monitoring System complying with Green Star ENE 2, Distribution boards including Laboratory Distribution boards, Gas fired generator system, Submain cabling, Busway systems between switchboards, General lighting and associated control systems. Lighting, Power outlets and permanent connections, Supply and Install all EIF (Photovoltaic cells, Wind Turbine, Fuel cell, Flywheel energy storage and batteries & Solar Thermal collectors & Parabolic trough), BMS control and monitoring interfaces and KNX protocols, Emergency lighting and exit sign system, Final Subcircuit wiring to lighting, power outlets and fixed equipment’s, Skirting duct system, Emergency stop buttons in Laboratories, Underfloor and general Cable management tray/ladder/ conduit system, EMI shielding, Floor boxes, TSG room temp/humidity/moisture monitors, Lightning protection system, Lighting controls including sensors, dimmers, blind controls and interface with audio visual and BMS systems.
